Man killed after car is hit by a Metrolink train in Santa Ana

(SANTA ANA, January 2020) — 61-year-old Juan Jose Espinoza Padilla died after his car was hit by a Metrolink train around 5:30 PM on Monday evening. According to authorities, Padilla’s car was stuck between the train track crossing arms at Grand and Hunter Avenues. When he accelerated, he was hit by a train heading in the opposite direction. The train was later identified as Metrolink train 689. No one on the train was hurt.

Padilla was killed upon impact, but his dog, who was inside of the vehicle at the time of the crash, survived.
