Costa Mesa, California – A 20-year-old man driving a Chevrolet Camaro was killed on the 405 freeway in Costa Mesa, after he struck an SUV that had also recently crashed. The SUV had previously hit a median blocking the southbound lane.
The 24-year-old driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries as a result of the crashes, but is expected to make a full recovery. The 20-year-old sustained severe injuries and died as a result of said injuries. As of yet, drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been factors in the accident.
Previous forecasts showed a high possibility of rain, leading to wet roads and increased risks of severe collisions.
