(NUEVO, MARCH 2020) — A victim who was killed in the fiery crash on the Romona Expressway has been identified as a robbery suspect.
According to authorities, the man allegedly attempted to rob a smoke shop when the owner of the store fired a gun at him. The suspect then fled the scene in a tan Ford vehicle.
A police chase then ensued but came to a stop when the suspect crashed into another vehicle at the freeway’s intersection with Hansen Road. He was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the other vehicle were injured in the crash but none of their injuries are considered life-threatening.
