CASTAIC, CA – In an update to a previous accident report, the Los Angeles County coroner has identified Travis Jordan as the motorcyclist killed in a speeding accident on Interstate 5 Saturday.
Jordan was a 39-year-old man from El Paso, Texas, who was driving a yellow Suzuki motorcycle on southbound I-5 near Smokey Bear Road on May 2. According to KHTS, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer first saw Jordan on the road at 11:47 a.m. The officer states that the motorcycle was driving faster than 100 miles per hour.
The CHP officer reported this speeding motorcycle to the Los Angeles Communication Center (LACC), but at 12:01 p.m. the LACC began receiving reports of a motorcycle crash on I-5 near Hasley Canyon Road.
Jordan crashed his motorcycle into a central divider on the highway, and the impact threw his body 1,500 feet away from the bike. Officials pronounced Jordan dead on the scene of the accident.
