UPDATE: Police identify child killed in 10 Freeway crash

LOS ANGELES, CA – In an update to a story from May 11, the police have now identified the child killed in the multi-vehicle crash on 10 Freeway as 13-year-old Ryan Milliner.

The chain-reaction crash, involving 10 vehicles, occurred at approximately 1:40 p.m. on May 10, according to NBC Los Angeles. A 2008 International DuraStar tow truck was driving on the 10 Freeway near the Francisquito Avenue exit. The 32-year-old tow truck driver was unable to come to a stop when traffic slowed in front of the vehicle.

The truck rear-ended a 2018 Nissan Murano, causing the car to collide with a dividing wall on the highway. The driver and three passengers in the Murano sustained moderate injuries in the accident. However, the fourth passenger, Ryan Milliner, was sitting in the backseat of the Murano, and he was killed in the collision.

The tow truck also rear-ended a 29-year-old woman in a 2018 Toyota Corolla, and the driver sustained serious injuries. The force of the impact on the Corolla created a chain reaction of rear-end accidents, involving a 2004 Dodge Ram, a 2019 Kia Niro, a 2008 Honda Odyssey, a 2006 Honda CRV, and a 2000 Toyota Corolla.

A 2018 Lexus IS200T also rear-ended the Nissan Murano, when the driver could not come to a stop before reaching the location of the accident.

Officers on the scene report that the accident injured at least eight people, who were in the 2018 Toyota Corolla, the 2018 Nissan Murano, and the 2000 Toyota Corolla. The police state that the injuries ranged from moderate to severe and many people were transported to the hospital.

None of the passengers or drivers in the other vehicles involved were injured in the accident.
