LOS ANGELES, CA – In an update to a report released yesterday, the police have determined that YouTube star Corey La Barrie was the passenger killed in a sports car accident on Sunday night.
La Barrie was a passenger in a 2020 McLaren 600LT, which was driven by tattoo artist Daniel Joseph Silva, 26. ABC 7 reports that the two men were celebrating La Barrie’s 25th birthday on May 10, when the accident occurred.
Silva was speeding and lost control of the car while driving on Huston Street near Carpenter Avenue. The vehicle drove off the road and crashed into a stop sign and then into a tree. After the accident, Silva tried to run away from the car, but witnesses stopped him from leaving the scene.
Police officers rushed La Barrie to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries. However, La Barrie died from his injuries later that night.
Despite information posted from La Barrie’s family on social media, the police did not report intoxication as a factor in the accident. At this time, officers believe that high speed was the primary cause of the accident.
Officials arrested Silva on murder charges after the accident, and he is currently in jail with a $200,000 bail.
