TUJUNGA, CA – Two 60-year-olds were rescued on Tuesday after their car ran off the road and fell down a hill.
A 60-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man were driving their car on Memory Drive near Tujunga Canyon Boulevard during the evening of May 12. According to CBS Los Angeles, the vehicle drove off the road towards a hill near the street. The vehicle tumbled 200 feet down the hill before coming to a stop.
Officials from the fire department came to the scene to help remove the couple from the car. They rescued the woman first, using a system of rope to pull her up the hill. A helicopter then air-lifted the woman to a trauma center for treatment. Officers at the scene reported that the woman was in critical condition.
After rescuing the woman, the fire crew removed the car’s roof to pull the man out of the crashed vehicle. An ambulance transported the man to a local hospital with serious and potentially critical injuries.
At this time, the police are not certain what caused the car to run off the road and fall down the hill.
