COMPTON, CA – Police pursued a reckless driver in a high-speed chase on Sunday night that ended when the driver crashed into an SUV and a van.
NBC 4 reports that on the night of May 17 police began following a Mercedes-Benz sedan that ran through an intersection and almost caused a collision. The driver led police through Compton and Hawthorne for ten minutes before crashing and coming to a stop on East Rosecrans Avenue.
The Mercedes-Benz hit a van on the road and a parked SUV. People were in both vehicles at the time of the accident. However, the police have not reported any injuries from the crash.
After the crash, the driver refused to surrender and started a standoff with the police. The standoff came to an end after the police fired objects into the vehicle.
