LAGUNA HILLS, CA – According to the Orange County Register, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on the San Diego (I-5) Freeway early Tuesday morning.
The California Highway Patrol stated the accident occurred in the southbound lane of the I-5 freeway, near the Alicia Parkway exit, around 12:05 a.m. A caller told CHP that a pedestrian was running in the lanes of the freeway and was hit by a vehicle.
Officers interviewed the drivers of a big rig and a Toyota Camry, but they haven’t stated whether either vehicle struck the pedestrian.
CHP said that the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes of the southbound San Diego Freeway just north of Alicia Parkway were closed for an investigation of the crash until further notice.
The age, gender and name of the victim haven’t been disclosed, and no arrests have been reported.
