LOS ANGELES, CA – Four people, including two LAPD officers, were injured in a multi-vehicle accident in South LA late last night, Fox 11 reports. As of this morning, one officer was listed in critical condition while the other was in serious condition.
An LAPD patrol SUV was crossing the intersection of Main Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when it was hit by a tow truck, which authorities believe had run a red light. Both officers were severely injured in the collision, and one was trapped in the wreckage. Paramedics were eventually able to free the officer, who was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver of the tow truck also sustained injuries.
A third vehicle occupied by a family with children was also involved in the accident, although no one was hurt. While the Fox 11 story references another vehicle and a fourth injury, details are unclear at this time.
