LOS ANGELES, CA – KCAL-TV has additional information about last night’s four-vehicle accident in which two LAPD officers were injured.
While initial reporting suggested that four people had been injured, LA’s CBS affiliate reports that eight people were hurt in the four-vehicle collision, which involved an LAPD patrol SUV, a tow truck, and what appear to be a Ford Sedan and a Hyundai SUV. One police officer as well as the tow truck driver were listed in critical condition, while the other officer was listed in serious condition. The other five people received only minor injuries.
The officers were responding to a backup call when they were hit by a tow truck in the intersection of Main Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard.
“The preliminary information that we have at this point, it appears that the tow truck driver had ran through a red light, causing the accident, but that tow truck driver may also have been responding to another emergency as well,” LAPD Lt. Chris Ramirez told a KCAL-TV reporter.
