LOS ANGELES, CA – According to KTLA, a police pursuit ended when a driver overturned their car in Lancaster on Saturday night.
The chase began in the area of West Los Angeles shortly before 11 p.m., when officers tried to pull over the car for speeding. When the driver did not stop, officers pursued the vehicle as it reached speeds of up to 130 mph. The driver took them north along the 405 Freeway, through the Sepulveda pass, onto the 5 Freeway, then northbound on the 14 Freeway before exiting into Lancaster.
When the pursuit turned onto a dirt road, officers performed a PIT maneuver. While the maneuver was unsuccessful, the chase ended just seconds later. It appears the vehicle hit a mailbox, causing it to flip.
Officers took the driver into custody. It is unclear if they had been injured in the crash.
