Palm Springs Carjacking Leads Police on Chase

PALM SPRINGS, CA – Palm Springs police responded to a report of a carjacking just after midnight Wednesday that led them to pursue the carjacker through several cities. The carjacker was arrested just after 12 p.m. near Redlands Boulevard and Clark Street, according to the Desert Sun.

The victims of the carjacking called the police around 12:15 a.m. reporting that they were forced out of their car at gunpoint by two men. This happened at the Amtrak train station off Indian Canyon Drive.

At 9:45 that morning, police in Banning spotted the stolen vehicle and attempted to pull the driver over, but the suspects fled and led the police on a chase. Eventually, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and led police on a brief foot chase before being apprehended. Police arrested Richard Felix Garcia, 25, a resident of Banning, and no one was injured.

Garcia is being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail.
