SANTA CLARITA – On Thursday evening, an SUV struck a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy in Santa Clarita. The driver has not yet been apprehended as of Friday morning.
According to a report from MyNewsLA, the accident occurred at Tyler Lane and American Beauty Drive around 10:45 p.m. Thursday. The sheriff’s deputy had stopped a felony warrant suspect and was conducting a routine traffic stop. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the SUV struck the deputy and drove away.
The deputy was taken to a local hospital but is expected to make a full recovery.
According to witnesses, a gray Range Rover with Florida license plates struck the deputy. It was later found abandoned at a Newhall gas station. Officials are still searching for the driver.
