NORTHRIDGE, CA – The Los Angeles Police, Fire, and Water & Power Departments responded to an accident Sunday night that resulted in a burst fire hydrant and flooded streets, CBS LA reports.
The incident began when a two-vehicle collision at the corner of Parthenia and Corbin Streets sent one of the vehicles crashing into a fire hydrant. The force of the impact burst a water main and sprayed a geyser of water several stories into the air. One person was injured in the crash.
The water was still flooding the intersection more than an hour after the crash, although at a diminished rate. Officials were on the scene to investigate the incident as well as direct traffic around the broken main.
