LOS ANGELES, CA – On Sunday afternoon, a chain of collisions on the 10 Freeway injured a CHP officer while he was making a traffic stop. The officer is in stable condition, but his injuries are serious. Now the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports that authorities are seeking information about the driver of the Scion who caused the chain reaction of crashes.
The CHP officer had pulled over a BMW and was outside the vehicle when a Scion FRS made a quick lane change in front of a Toyota Rav4. The Rav4 veered away in an attempt to avoid the Scion and crashed into the officer’s parked interceptor. The interceptor was pushed into the BMW which, in turn, hit the officer.
The officer was taken to the hospital with major injuries. Three lanes of the highway were closed during investigations into the crash. The driver of the Scion is being sought in conjunction with the crash.
