Pedestrian struck and killed in car chase

LOS ANGELES, CA – A woman was out for a walk when a felony suspect fleeing police struck and killed her Wednesday night, reports NBC, Los Angeles.

The tragic events were set in motion at 7:45 p.m., when the LA County Sheriff’s Department initiated a search for an armed and dangerous suspect. The pursuit began close to Avenue S and the 14 Freeway, but was soon suspended because of the suspect’s unsafe speeds.

The suspect crashed into the pedestrian around the 1200 block of East Avenue S not long after the chase ended. Many witnesses described the scene as horrifying and stated the car was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit the woman. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers arrested six people in the vehicle, including two adults and four minors. This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
