High-speed chase results in crash in San Fernando Valley

BURBANK, CA – A high-speed chase started on the southbound 5 Freeway in San Fernando Valley that resulted in a crash on Camarillo Street Wednesday afternoon.

According to ABC7, the police chase of a black BMW initiated near the Newhall Pass around 3:30 p.m. It is currently unknown why the driver was wanted.

The female driver of the BMW exceeded speeds of 100 mph while fleeing on the southbound 5 Freeway. Soon after, the driver exited onto surfaces streets in Burbank.

At this point, it appeared police let off and went into tracking mode. Then, the suspect began slowing down and obeying the traffic laws for a limited time.

During one point of the chase the female driver switched places with the male passenger. At one instance of the chase, the male driver was driving on a residential road in reverse at high speeds in order to make a U-turn.

The chase ended when the male driver drifted to the right on Camarillo Street and crashed into two parked cars. The crash caused the car to flip.

Both suspects fled the vehicle, but soon were apprehended by police when they laid on the ground to surrender.

Due to the crash, paramedics were on the scene; however, neither suspect sustained injuries.
