SYLMAR, CA – A multi-vehicle crash in the Sylmar area this morning led to the death of one person, according to KHTS.
The accident happened on the 5 Freeway, near Newhall Pass and Roxford Street, at about 8:05 a.m. when four vehicles – including an SUV, 18-wheeler truck, a Homeland Security Patrol truck, and a dump truck – collided.
One person, whose identity has not yet been revealed, died from injuries sustained during the crash.
It is unclear at this time what caused the accident, though according to a tweet by Caltrans, crews were working to repair damage to a guardrail.

Multiple lanes of the 405 Freeway were closed for several hours for the investigation and cleanup of the collision.
