Man dead, three injured after allegedly speeding driver hits street sweeper in San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO, CA – A man was killed, and three other people were taken to the hospital after an allegedly-speeding and possibly-intoxicated San Bernardino man collided with a street sweeper.

According to KTLA, the accident happened on Baseline Street near University Avenue at about 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday.

35-year-old Ramon Arredondo was allegedly operating an SUV at a high speed and while under the influence of drugs when he was unable to safely pass a street sweeper, which was being operated by 52-year-old Upland man Robert Black.

Arredondo collided with the back of the street sweeper, resulting in the death of a 32-year-old passenger.

Arredondo and two other occupants of the SUV were taken to the hospital for the treatment of non-critical wounds.

Black was not reported as injured.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
