Man riding stolen motorcycle killed in crash on Fremont Avenue

SOUTH PASADENA, CA –  A Los Angeles man was killed when he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding and collided with a white box truck on Fremont Avenue near Buena Vista street this morning. According to the South Pasadena Review, the rider was traveling at a high rate of speed in an area known for dangerous street racing. The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of the family.

The crash occurred shortly after 9:50 a.m., causing both lanes of Fremont Avenue to be shut down from Columbia to Buena Vista street until about 1:00 p.m. while investigators and cleanup crews worked at the scene. According to eyewitnesses, the motorcyclist was speeding northbound on Fremont Avenue and was attempting to pass slower traffic when he lost control of the vehicle, hit the curb, and crashed into the truck (which was also heading northbound).

Police have reported that the motorcycle was reported stolen in November out of Burbank. If you have any information on this crash, police are urging witnesses to call SPPD at (626) 403-7270.
