Suspect in custody after high speed chase ends in crash

LOS ANGELES, CA – A suspect is in custody after a high-speed chase involving police and California Highway Patrol ended in a crash near the Chinatown Gold Line Station on Friday. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle was traveling at high speeds and running stop signs through the east LA area at around 10:00 p.m.

A half-hour later, the chase ended when the Mercedes Benz (which authorities believe to have been stolen), struck an SUV at the downtown intersection of Broadway and College. The driver tried to flee on foot but was arrested by LAPD officers shortly afterward, according to KTLA 5.
