(NEWPORT BEACH, MARCH 2020) — One man in his twenties has been killed in a high-speed crash on Balboa Boulevard near 23rd Street. NBC reports that the crash occurred after police attempted to stop the car at about 1:15 a.m. this morning. The driver is reported to have exceeded 100mph at times, according to witnesses. The impact with a median led to the scattering of debris for hundreds of feet around the car. The car’s engine struck a nearby SUV.
The driver reportedly died at the scene. His passenger, an unidentified woman, sustained injuries.
