SAN DIEGO, CA. – Police are asking the public for help in identifying a motorist who severely injured a 56-year-old pedestrian in a hit-and-run accident at an intersection in Kensington.
According to the San Diego Times, the suspect was driving a late-model white Ford Explorer at 7:00 p.m. when he ran a red light at Copeland Avenue and struck the victim while they were crossing the street at El Cajon Boulevard. The driver did not stop following the crash, and continued driving west, away from the scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, including a brain bleed, broken ribs, and a collapsed lung.
The Explorer was captured on nearby surveillance footage as the driver fled the scene. The vehicle is missing the passenger-side mirror after the crash.
