FRESNO, CA – Two intoxicated drivers collided on Thursday evening in an accident that sent one of the cars caroming through the front window of a local business.
Fox 26 News reports that at approximately 6:30 p.m. on May 14, a Dodge Challenger crashed into another vehicle near the intersection of North Blackstone Avenue and Bullard Avenue. The impact of the crash threw the second vehicle through the front window of Phillip’s Barstool and Dinettes. Once inside the building, the car’s engine caught fire and burned both the car and the store’s interior.
Firefighters on the scene put out the fire and rescued the man driving the vehicle. However, the man sustained a significant leg injury, and he was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
A witness told police that the Dodge was swerving and driving erratically before the accident occurred. This information prompted the police to administer sobriety tests to determine whether the drivers involved were intoxicated at the time of the accident.
The test results confirmed that the driver in the Dodge Challenger and the driver in the second vehicle were both under the influence when the crash occurred.
