Long Beach police officer killed in motorcycle crash

LONG BEACH, CA – A Long Beach police officer died in a traffic collision just north of Alamitos Beach on Thursday, KTLA reports.

Anton Fischer, a three-year veteran of the force, was riding his motorcycle east on Ocean Boulevard when a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee made a left turn into westbound traffic from 7th Place. The 33-year-old Fischer could not stop his motorcycle in time, and crashed into the side of the Jeep.

Several bystanders offered first aid until paramedics arrived. They transported Fischer to a local hospital, but could not be saved.

The driver of the Jeep stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigations.
