Drunk tow truck driver hits more than a dozen cars, injures 2

LOS ANGELES, CA – An apparently drunk tow truck driver crashed into more than a dozen vehicles in El Monte Saturday, injuring three people, including himself.

KTLA reports that the spree began when Alex Moreno, 38, crashed his tow truck into three cars at an intersection on Valley Boulevard at about 7 p.m. on June 6. He then careened into a nearby parking lot and struck another 12 vehicles.

A video of the event showed a bystander throwing a rock at the truck, which lurched into a metal fence and came to a stop. Two people attempted to enter the cab and take the keys from the driver.

Police arrived on the scene and pulled a disoriented Moreno from the vehicle. He and two other people were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police confirmed that the tow truck had not been stolen. Moreno has been charged with felony hit-and-run and drunk driving charges. Bail was set at $100,000.
