21-year old motorcyclist struck and killed by drunk driver

PALMDALE, CA — A suspected drunk driver struck and killed a 21-year old motorcyclist, Tyrece Alires, Tuesday night, according to the Antelope Valley Times.

According to the Palmdale Sheriff, the accident occurred around 11:20 p.m. on June 9 at the intersection of 35th Street East and Avenue S. Witnesses say they saw a Chevrolet Malibu run a red light through 35th St. and collide with Alires’ Kawasaki motorcycle, which was traveling westbound on Avenue S. Alires was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s press release states that the driver of the Chevrolet Malibu showed signs of drunkenness and had a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit. The driver was arrested and taken into custody at the time of the accident, but their name has not yet been released.
