LOS ANGELES, CA – Officers continued their search for a possible submerged body in the San Gabriel Reservoir Friday morning, reported NBC Los Angeles.
Allegedly a Chevy Camero broke through a fence on Route 39 and drove into the San Gabriel Reservoir around 10:20 p.m. The passenger, Andres Peralta, was able to escape the flooding vehicle and swim to the surface. Peralta was later taken to the hospital with severe neck pain.
Officers and search and rescue crews began combing the reservoir for the Camero and the driver. The camera was discovered around 4:00 a.m. It is unknown if the driver was found in the submerged vehicle.
State Route 39 was closed from 11:30 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. Crews continued to search the reservoir on Friday.
Officers are investigating the circumstances leading to the Camero going into the reservoir. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
