HIGHLAND, CA – A car careened into a Highland neighborhood killing an 11-year-old girl Monday evening, reports ABC 7.
Annika Fullerton had been visiting family members in the area and was out walking with a few of her friends in the neighborhood when she was hit by an SUV. There have been numerous reports of people speeding through the neighborhood, posing a danger for children in the area.
The SUV struck Fullerton around 8:30 p.m., throwing her into a neighboring yard. The driver sped away from the scene. Fullerton was transported to the local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Officers were able to pull an image of the vehicle in question from surveillance cameras and are searching for the vehicle and its driver. This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
