IRWINDALE, CA – A woman was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of the 605 when she struck a FedEx semi truck Sunday evening, reports NBC Los Angeles.
A 2003 silver Nissan Sedan crashed into the semi around 10:48 p.m. Sunday. It is unknown why the 19-year-old sedan driver was driving the wrong direction on the southbound lanes.
The Nissan became wedged under the semi truck, and the driver died at the scene. The 42-year-old truck driver was complaining of pain and was treated at a local hospital.
Traffic was diverted at Lower Azusa Road for about five hours as officers investigated the incident.
