Pedestrian struck and killed in Long Beach crash

LONG BEACH, CA – A pedestrian was killed while walking in the street along a busy road near the Long Beach Airport on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Long Beach Post, the accident happened when the driver of a 2001 Honda Accord was looking down while driving along Cherry Avenue near 37th Street at about 12:25 p.m. Paramedics attempted to save the victim’s life but were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Medics were also treating the driver of the vehicle, but no word on the injuries they sustained as been released. Neither drugs or alcohol have been deemed a factor in the crash at this time.
