Pedestrian killed by DUI suspect on a sidewalk in Anaheim

ANAHEIM, CA – A pregnant woman died from injuries sustained when a white Jeep hit her on a sidewalk in Anaheim on Tuesday evening. The accident occurred around 7:37 p.m. on Katella Avenue by Bayless Street, according to KTLA5.

The critically injured woman was transported to UC Irvine Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Authorities estimated that she was 35 weeks pregnant. The medical team was able to safely remove the baby, who is currently being treated.

The woman’s husband, who was with her at the time of the accident, was not hurt.

Police identified the driver of the Jeep as Courtney Pandolfi. Pandolfi was treated for minor to moderate injuries after the accident at a local hospital.

Pandolfi has two prior DUI offenses on her record and was driving with a suspended license. It is suspected she was under the influence during Tuesday night’s accident. After treatment at the hospital, Pandolfi was arrested for multiple charges, which include vehicular manslaughter.

Katella Avenue was closed off temporarily between Euclid and Ninth Streets after the accident Tuesday evening.
