LONG BEACH, CA – A 23-year-old motorcyclist died in a three-vehicle collision near the Bluff Park area on Tuesday evening, according to the Long Beach Post.
The accident occurred on Ocean Boulevard, near Temple Avenue, at about 6:30 p.m. when a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle attempted to pass a slow-moving 2005 GMC Yukon.
The motorcyclist, a 23-year-old man from Long Beach, crashed into the rear of the GMC, which was operated by a 28-year-old Long Beach man. The motorcycle then continued, colliding with the rear of a 2003 Ford Ranger driven by a 30-year-old man from Cypress.
The motorcyclist, who was not publicly identified pending next-of-kin notification, was taken to the hospital, and there died of his injuries.
The occupants of the other two vehicles were not reported as injured.
According to investigators, the motorcyclist was driving at a high speed when the accident occurred. Intoxicated driving is not suspected as a cause of the collision at this point.
An investigation into the accident continues at this time.
