LA VERNE, CA – A tow truck driver helping a disabled motorist was killed in La Verne Monday night when he was struck in a hit-and-run collision, according to MyNewsLA.
The accident happened at about 9 p.m. on Foothill Freeway (210), near Fruit Street, when 24-year-old Karen D. Floresarrelano allegedly hit the victim with her 2012 BMW 528i while he was standing on the shoulder of the road. Floresarrelano is believed to have fled the scene.
The victim, 40-year-old tow truck driver Christopher Herrera, of La Habra, died as a result of the crash.
Floresarrelano was later taken into custody by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which suspects that she was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred.
