BAKERSFIELD, CA – A motorcyclist died in an accident in Bakersfield this weekend after the driver of a Buick pulled in front of him, according to KGET.
The crash happened on China Grade Loop near Round Mountain Road and Alfred Harrell Highway at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday night after a Buick Enclave stopped on the right side of the road, on the shoulder.
The Buick then drove off the shoulder and onto the roadway, into the path of a Suzuki 600 motorcycle. The motorcycle, driven by 51-year-old Jack Christopher Shipley, collided with the driver’s side of the vehicle.
Shipley was ejected during the collision and died of injuries sustained during the crash.
The other driver, who was not publicly identified, was not hurt in the collision.
Authorities closed the roadway for about three hours for the cleanup and investigation of the collision, with traffic resuming a little after 11 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
