24-year-old dies after being hit by two cars while crossing street in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA – A 24-year-old man died in Long Beach this weekend after he was hit by two separate cars while he was crossing the street, according to the Orange County Breeze.

The crash happened near the intersection of Cerritos Ave and South St at 7:15 p.m. Saturday when a man from Long Beach crossed the street.

The victim, who has yet to be publicly identified pending family notification, stopped walking while in the middle of South, as he was waiting for oncoming traffic to pass by.

A 19-year-old man from Chino Hills, who reportedly did not see the victim, struck the pedestrian with a 2011 Toyota Camry. Another driver, a 54-year-old man from Long Beach, also did not see the victim, according to the report. His 2005 Nissan Quest then hit the pedestrian following the crash involving the Toyota.

The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he died of injuries sustained during the accident.

The two drivers have reportedly cooperated with the investigation and are not suspected of having been under the influence at the time of the crash.

The accident remains under investigation at this time by the Long Beach Police Department.
